I have always wanted to publish a children’s book. I’ve written several – even sent manuscripts to the traditional book publishers earlier in my life – only to get rejection letters. So I spent my life in Corporate America earning the big buck – well not so big – hoping one day I would be a published author.

In 2023, my friend was working on a book with an independent publisher and I thought maybe that was a way for me to get my stories published. So I brought out an old story and revisited – rewriting and trying to figure out how I could design it myself. That book was called “Joey’s Big Day” and it still sits in a folder as something amazing happened in the fall of 2023 in Wisconsin.

Flamingos were spotted on a beach in Port Washington, Wisconsin on Lake Michigan. I’m a flamingo lover so I was intrigued. A few days’ later, I woke up at 5 a.m. and a story just spilled out of me. That is how Flingo Flies to Wisconsin was born. I knew the timing was critical and I had to get it out fast, and I wasn’t willing to pay an independent publisher when I knew I could do it myself. So I researched quickly and published my book through Amazon. Flingo was born and is now a series. My first book was so popular it was featured on Fox6, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Waukesha Freeman, Focus Waukesha and WFRV in Green Bay. I was hooked.

I have hundreds of ideas floating around in my head for all types of books. My focus now is children’s books, especially as I am now a grandma. I hope to expand the Flingo series, but I am also going to introduce some other books as well.
